Returns Policy FAQs

MARDAG accepts returns in accordance with our standard Terms & Conditions of Trade. Indent goods made or imported to customers specifically and clearance products are non-returnable (Returns clause 12) All returns must be accompanied by a MARDAG issued Goods Return Authorisation (GRA) number. Items returned without a GRA number may not be accepted. Please contact our team should you require further information at [email protected] (Returns Clause in T&C), (Returns Request Form Link).

Unwanted items (excluding indent & clearance products) may be requested for return within 14 days of purchase. Items must be undamaged and unused, in original packaging in resaleable condition. To request approval for a return, please complete the Returns Request form. Returns sent without prior authorisation and a valid GRA number may not be accepted.

Requests for return of faulty/damaged items can be made by completing the Returns Request Form (Form Link). Once the returns request form has been provided, we will provide a return authorisation number for the items(s) to be returned. When we receive the returned items, we will undertake testing and will advise the outcome and what further action will occur. Items with confirmed faults may be credited or replaced at MARDAG’s discretion.

Technical Support FAQs

A Surge is a rapid, temporary increase in voltage. Some common causes being the switching on and off of power from large scale electricity users such as shopping centres, hospitals or factories. A surge can also be caused by a close lightning strike.

Electronic installations, data processing, personal computers, home theatre & sound systems and a host of other expensive electronic equipment are all under constant threat from these damaging surge voltages.

Every surge takes its toll. Even brief surges can destroy the circuitry of sensitive electronic equipment over a period of time. Unfortunately it is very likely that a surge (a prolonged voltage increase) or a spike (an instantaneous increase travelling at the speed of light) can wreck delicate electronic circuitry instantly. Below is a simple graph to show why lightning and surge voltage protection is more important now than it was several years ago.

Surge Arresters provide a direct path for any over voltage from a surge or spike to Earth. This keeps the high voltage from destroying electronic equipment.

Every surge takes its toll. Even brief surges can destroy the circuitry of sensitive electronic equipment over a period of time. A surge or a spike can destroy electronic circuitry instantly.

Coarse protection (Lightning Protection) is to be used in the main switchboard where there is external lightning protection or overhead incoming mains.

Medium protection is to be used in main switchboards where there is no external lighting protection and no overhead incoming mains. It is also to be used in any distribution boards.

Fine protection is not required 10 meters away from any medium protection device. It is to be installed within 5 meters of the device to be protected and always in conjunction with medium type protection. The products from OBO Bettermann are not the same as the plug-in type of protection offered at retail stores. They offer protection on Phase, Neutral and Earth connections. They also use a spark gap arrestor between Neutral and Earth connections to avoid nuisance RCD tripping.

We supply products with a cut-in voltage of 275-280 VAC. This is quite important for the life of the arrestor. A cut-in voltage lower than this shortens the life of the arrestor and means you’ll have to unnecessarily replace the arrestor more frequently.

The size of back-up fuse required for different models of surge arrestors differs according to model. The V25-B+C Series products need a backup fuse of 160A and the V20-C Series products need 125A. Back-up fuses are only required when the supply fuse is larger than the ratings above.
